The cervical spine/throat/neck plays an important and essential role in the awakening and ascending process. Any issues or dysfunctions showing up here  –  or anywhere in the body – become our doorway to healing all aspects of self. This 5th Chakra, or Vishuddhi chakra, becomes very important in  building our Antakarahna or Rainbow Bridge to the higher mind, spiritual realms and higher aspects of self.

In regard to chronic physical issues like headaches, hormone imbalances, physical balance and coordination, or anything that seems to be sluggish in healing, look to the vertebrae in the neck. If any of these are out of alignment, all of the other vertebrae adjust accordingly to compensate. In addition, abnormal motion can cause inaccurate feedback to the brain for ALL functions in the body.

Spiritually speaking, our job is to transcended many of the challenges and wounds of the lower chakras and come to terms with our shadow elements. This frees energy to flow upward, feeding the will center (3rd chakra) and then heart chakra (4th). When it begins to flow through the throat chakra we can expand our world through words and deeds, enabling us to grasp cosmic concepts and experience the higher dimensions.

The goal of this energy center is to help us “increase the coherence of our basic vibrational experience and realign our basic rhythm…The state of resonance within the mind-body is a statement of our health and vitality.” Anodea Judith from Eastern Body Western Mind, Psychology and the Chakra System

The name Vishuddhi, which means purification, gives us a hint at its job. It is through this chakra all others must pass. Every time we clear an aspect in the lower body we build a portion of the rainbow bridge to the higher consciousness and our multi-dimensional selves.

When I’m doing CranioSacral therapy on a client I begin with a sacral hold which stirs the kundalini energy to rise. As this energy begins to flow it travels up the spine and passes through all lower vertebrae and organs. Often my clients will complain of pressure in the neck and head pain or aches. Once I release the vertebrae in the neck and open the flow in the throat their pain ceases and the headache goes away.

As we progress on the spiritual path, we increasingly work to develop a bridge of communication between the soul, our inner source of wisdom, and our personality, through which we work in the world. This bridge, understood in eastern traditions as the antahkarana, creates a highway of expression between the soul and personality. When we actively work to develop the antahkarana, we are increasingly able to live the wisdom and love of the soul.

Possible Emotions or States of Mind

The Spinal Column is the first place in the human body to react physically to our thoughts, attitudes and emotions. From there, signals are sent to the area of the body that is affected by the particular thought, attitude or emotion that was just experienced. Vertebral interference occurs when a specific spiritual tolerance threshold has been breached.

Many times, not always, dysfunctions in areas of the body will correspond to issues we could be struggling with in our everyday life. Louise Hay is known for bringing together the aspects of how our experiences are mirrored in issues within our body. For more information on her work click here. Below is a list of a few issues that may shine some light on the pain or block you are experiencing in your neck or throat:

C1 or The Atlas:

  • Too much data or too much energy
  • Fear or Confusion
  • Imbalance in Life
  • Feeling not good enough
  • Too active mind
  • Overwhelm
  • Feeling attacked or threatened by life
  • Being a martyr

C2 or The Axis:

  • Refusal to know or understand
  • Indecision
  • Blame
  • Denial of one’s spirituality
  • Sticking one’s neck out for someone

C3:

  • Inability to mediate or communicate
  • Judgement
  • Keeping secrets
  • Covering for someone else
  • Bothersome relationship – someone is a pain in the neck
  • Guilt
  • Grinding one’s self down
  • Biting off more than one can chew

C4:

  • Repressed anger
  • Bitterness
  • Bottled-up feelings
  • Stuffed tears

C5:

  • “What will the neighbors say?
  • Fear of ridicule and humiliation
  • Fear of expression
  • Helplessness
  • Rejecting one’s good
  • Resistance or Inflexibility

C6:

  • Burdens
  • Overload
  • Trying to fix others

C7:

  • Confusion
  • Can’t make sense out of life
  • Fear of taking the next step
  • Fear of commitment

* Note: It is possible to have any sort of emotion caught anywhere in the body. So these possible emotions are only a place to start. Typically, negative emotions will be stored where ever there has been trauma, abuse or illness.

Healing the Throat, Neck and Cervical Vertebrae

1. Seek out a reputable chiropractor, preferably one who practices Applied Kinesiology as well. Frequently the Atlas bone, in particular, could rotate and be out of alignment on 3 different planes. For many on the spiritual path this bone seems to be somewhat troublesome. It tends to be thrown out of balance if there is too much of something – energy, noise, vibrational stimulation, intense emotions from self or someone else.

2. Keep flexible by moving energy throughout your entire body. Yoga, dance, martial arts, etc.

3. Chanting mantra or singing. Sound current is ‘Hum.’ Sound therapy: crystals bowls, gong, etc.

4. Writing, journaling, or anything where thoughts and feelings may be explored safely.

5. Avoid toxins or chemical exposure if possible.

6. Meditate and focus on bringing inner energy from the lower centers up the spine to the crown of the head.

For Advanced Energy Practitioners:

The cervical spine, neck, and throat area is especially vulnerable to energetic interference and attack by negative influences – spirits, frequencies, technology due to, in part, collective traumas from our soul monad (group). For those who know they have weaknesses in this area, check for any soul fragments, past emotional traumas and physical injury traumas. Removing the negative frequencies and instructing divine teams to correct, repair and reinstall divine blueprint will improve things considerably and will allow the connection and integration with our Avatar selves. Some other things to check for:

  • Hidden vows, contracts or agreements
  • Shadow elements
  • Numerous types of implants
  • False light frequencies
  • Holographic inserts
  • Phantom and false matrices
Kundalini Yoga Meditation to Open the Upper Centers

Kundalini yoga is one of the best tools around to move energy through specific channels in the body. This meditation helps to facilitate flow through the neck and throat and helps to free up your avenues of expression. It’s one of my favorites!

“When the thyroid and parathyroid secretions are stimulated to a certain level, the praanic energy flows more freely into the upper energy centers of the head. The first meditation has this effect. The second meditation focuses in the Heart Center energy of compassion and the healing energy of the hands. It is a meditation of levels beyond the realms of pain. Both meditations increase the circulation of blood to the brain. They are excellent as short meditations in themselves or as a preparation for a longer meditation. Both clear the mind and allow greater concentration.” Kundalini Research Institute
